Vs Hertfordshire Warriors 2

In their final game of the regular season the Scorpions U14 team put on a confident all-around display of team defence and offensive execution. Coming off a disappointing second loss of the season after the difficult weekend of car accidents and injuries during their previous visit the team were determined to prove that they are a force to be reckoned with at full strength, and they did not disappoint. Doing an excellent job of not just settling for open shots but working for the best shot the team really shared the scoring load and looked like a changed group from the previous two outings. Really pulling together as a group and demonstrating that they can think for themselves in the game and do not have to rely on restrictive plays to win games. A very impressive and resounding victory over the team which sat at the top of the League Tables prior to the encounter the game ended 43 – 16 to the Scorpions. This left the Scorpions in a 3-way tie for second place, clinching it on points difference. AGS Hornets finished first with the Scorpions handing them their only defeat of the season.

Vs Aylesbury Dux (QF2)

In their Playoff Qualifier the Scorpions faced Aylesbury Dux who finished in 7th place. Continuing their solid display of team-work the Scorpions lead out of the gate and never looked back in this one. For the first game of the season every player in the team got on the score sheet with several of the quieter players on the squad stepping up and contributing such as Max Caswell’s confident debut display at Point Guard in the 3rd quarter and Alex Casimir’s (long overdue) improved shooting form. With a season-low 3 turnovers it really seems that the team has learned not to panic on the ball and to let the game come to them more on the offensive end. The Free-throw shooting percentage was unfortunately quite low for this game and there is still a lack of boxing-out on the defensive end. Having said that the defence really clicked as a unit today in both games as players took personal pride in keeping their man to man defensive positioning and stepped up to support their teammates on the weak side. The fast break really was clicking today and it is reflected in the final score of 69 – 6 in Scorpions favour. The Scorpions will now face Hertfordshire Warriors 1 in the Playoff Semi-Finals in their quest to prove themselves as the strongest U14 team in Buckinghamshire.
