IF YOU HAVE NOT YET PAID YOUR REGISTRATION INVOICE, PLEASE PAY NO LATER THAN THURSDAY EVENING

Without this payment , Basketball England will not recognize your registration and their rules mean WE CANNOT ALLOW YOU TO TRAIN

Club uniform and mini basketball update

All the mini basketballs are here, and our initial kit order of 80 club uniforms have arrived plus our order for another 15 U8 and U10 club uniforms has also arrived.

We have on order another 40 club uniforms and these are due into us next week - providing you have paid your registration fee, we will distribute both the mini balls and the club uniforms this weekend.

U8s and U10s

Just a follow up reminder that Coach Neil is coaching at BLETCHLEY this season , not Shenley. We have sent emails to all the Shenley registered U8s and u10s, but if you have not seen the email and want your child to swap to Bletchley, please email me TODAY - not problem to switch

Bletchley this weekend.

Despite us booking the venue a couple of months ago, Bletchley informed us late last night they have double booked the courts until 2.00pm this weekend only. As such , we will combine the U8s and U10s together , and also the U12s and U14s , both starting at 2.00pm. We have sent emails to all the u8s and the U12s, but again just another reminder.

If you haven't already applied to join the club for the coming season , please do so as soon as possible in order to make sure of your child's place

Go to the website, shenleybasketball.org.uk - go to TEAMS, select the AGE GROUP and VENUE you want to join , all the details are on each of the team pages, then click the JOIN OUR CLUB link and complete the application form - YOU MUST SPECIFY THE AGE GROUP AND VENUE ( please put this in the Information Section ) . Once we receive your application , we will send you an email link to complete your registration plus we will email you an invoice for the registration fee. Your registration is valid upon receipt of your registration fee

REGISTRATIONS ARE NOW OPEN!

As a reminder you MUST register or re- register your child for this season - this is a mandatory requirement of Basketball England.

We have already received almost 50 registration within the first 72 hours and the most common mistake is YOU MUST SPECIFY WHICH AGE GROUP AND WHICH VENUE - we are not mind readers!

Also for those who have already registered, please be aware that we will be sending out your registration invoices ( for registration and club uniform ) over the weekend of September 8th / 9th as our Treasurer is still on holiday on the west coast of America ( 8 hour time difference ) and dealing with player registrations on a daily basis whilst on her holiday!!

New kit for the U12s and up.

Club Uniforms

As part of our overall philosophy of 'Basketball For All', last season saw us introduce a club uniform for our U8s and U10s, which has been a huge sucess according to both players and parents.

We strongly believe that every player should feel part of both their own individual age group and the club itself and our club uniform does exactly this. As a reversible kit, it also provides flexibility in training sessions, as well as in competitive matches.

We do appreciate there is an upfront cost , but feel that this is a worthwhile investment - we provide the kit at cost, it should last a minimum of 2 seasons and with a typical Nike or Adida T- shirt costing £20 - £30 , provides a low cost alternative to branded training kit.

U8 / U10

In order to keep costs as low as possible, we plan to continue using the reversible kit we introduced last season and which was received with huge enthusiasm

For those in this seasons U8 and U10 age groups who currently have kits - please hold onto these and we will invoice you along with your registration fee

For those U10s moving up to the U12 age group this season , please return your kits to the club at your first training session in order that we can reycle the kits for new players

For those new players joining the U8 and U10 age groups this season , once we receive your registration fee, we will provide a club uniform for your child at their first training session.

As part of our committment to keeping costs as low as possible, should your child grow out of the club uniform during their membership of either the U8 and / or the U10 age groups, we will replace this free of charge from our inventory

If you should need to replace your uniform as a result of damage, we can do this at a cost of £35. Please email the club for details.

U12/14/16/18/20

This season will see us introduce a reversible club uniform for every age group - we have chosen a standard uniform rather than bespoke in order that we can keep costs as low as possible, and ensure we can continue to purchase additional kits for new members for the forseeable future.

For all players registering this season, your registration fee invoice will not only contain our bank account details, it will also ask you to email us by return with which size uniform you require. Once your registration fee is received, we will provide your club uniform at your next training session.Smaller and larger sizes are available, but will take up to 2 weeks to order.

We suggest you order a uniform size in order to accommodate your childs growth

If you should need to replace your uniform as a result of damage, youcan do this at a cost of £40 diectly from the clubs new online shop.( must order same number )

Important Club News Update

1. NEW SEASON - NEW WEBSITE - SAME ADDRESS

On September 1st we are introducing a new website ( same address www.shenleybasketball.orguk ) and a new registration process to help us manage our outstanding growth in numbers last season. PLEASE REMEMBER - IT IS A REQUIREMENT OF BASKETBALL ENGLAND THAT EVERY PLAYER REGISTERS EVERY SEASON

Please note the Training will start on the weekend of September 22nd / 23rd,

2. WE WILL BE RUNNING AT SHENLEY LEISURE CENTRE ON SATURDAYS AND BLETCHLEY LEISURE CENTRE ON SUNDAYS.

As we have now totally run out of both space and capacity at Shenley, we have been working hard since late last season to find more coaches to be able to offer basketball at every age group on both Saturdays and Sundays and we are delighted to announce that we have achieved our goal. ( the U12 girls and ladies will still be Saturdays only )

Please note - when you apply to register, you will need to specify which age group and whether Shenley or Bletchley - to start with , YOU CAN ONLY SELECT SATURDAY OR SUNDAY, NOT BOTH ( we want to be able to offer basketball to as many local kids as possible )

3. COACHES.

This season will see a number of new coaches, and coaching changes - we are still finalising the final details, but to help you decide on Saturdays or Sundays, the major changes and introductions are
a) Neil Macleod will be coaching the U8s and U10s at Bletchley on Sundays this season, not Saturdays at Shenley.
b) We welcome Coach Greg Zajac as coach to the U8s at Shenley on Saturdays.
c) We welcome back Coach Tas Chanalaris as coach to the U10s at Shenley on Saturdays.
d) We welcome Coach Aneta Sochan as coach to the U12 boys at Bletchley on Sundays , Aneta coached National League last season at MK Trojans
e) We welcome Bane Jancikin as coach to the U14 boys at Bletchley, Bane is an ex professional basketball player recently moved to MK
f) Peter Taylor will be coaching the U16 boys at Bletchley on Sundays, Peter has many years National League playing and coaching plus England U19 and Senior Women's coaching
g) We welcome Dave Rossington as coach to the U18 / 20 boys at Bletchley on Sundays, Dave has many years National League coaching
Our U12, U14, U16 and U18 boys group plus our U12 girls and ladies groups at Shenley on Saturdays will again be coached by the same group of basketball coaches as last season, with the exception that Coach Darko is no longer coaching the U14 boys as he is moving for his work.

4. CLUB UNIFORMS.

U8 uniforms - Last seasons initiative has been a tremendous success, and as everyone is aware, has so far been funded by the club while in the 'experimental ' phase. In speaking with parents , the club has always made it clear that at some point, the club would want to recoup its outlay and so, for this season, registration will include a one off payment for registration with Basketball England and also for the (actual) cost of the kit. Full details of this are on our new website,- we would ask all our U8s who plan on returning next season to hold onto their kits- If your child is not planning to return next season, we would appreciate the kit being returned to us so we can recycle the uniform.
U10 uniforms - as above, all returning U10s , please hold onto your uniforms. For those moving unto our U12 age group, again we would appreciate the uniforms being returned at your first training session , again so we can recycle. For those joining the U12 age group there is a new reversible club uniform available and as with the U8s there will be a one off payment for registration with Basketball England and the (actual) cost of the kit.Full details are on the new website.If your child is not planning to return next season, we would appreciate the kit being returned to us so we can recycle the uniform.
U12 / U14 / U16 /U18- This season we plan to extend our club uniform programme to every age group, it is very important to us a club that we recognise every single player and we believe that a individual club uniform is the first and most important step to 'belonging' to the club - it also helps tremendously with training, allowing scrimmages without bibs, and ensures that whoever plays for the club already has his or her own uniform. As with our U8s and U10s, this season's registration will include a one off payment for registration with Basketball England and also for the (actual) cost of your own club uniform. 5. INTRODUCTION OF CLUB SHOP.

Our new website will include our own 'club shop' where you will be able to buy T shirts, hoodies and club bags ( this is run in conjunction with Bigfoot Basketball )

6. FREE MINI BASKETBALLS FOR U8'S AND U10'S

This season will see EVERY U8 and U10, both at Shenley and Bletchley receive a FREE Wilson MVP basketball as part of their registration fee.

As I mentioned , this is a new website and a new integrated registration system, which will help the very small group of volunteers manage our ever growing membership, but as a new system , it is likely that we may have a few ' teething challenges' so please bear with us as we get to grips with the new system , especially in September which will be exceptionally busy for all of us.
