We are changing the U10 sessions to improve the kid’s basketball skills.

The u10s is now very large and we have school years 1 to 6 within the same group. This large age range can be very difficult to manage due to different abilities. By splitting the group we can introduce better drills to teach the kids the skills more relevant to their abilities. Our focus in the U10s is basketball basics with a heavy influence of making it enjoyable.

So, this is what we have decided to do.

After Easter, starting on Saturday April 2nd we will be splitting the U10s into two groups. U10s and Minis(U9).

Minis(u9) – Saturday 2pm – 3pm – School year 3 and under. – £10 per month (please adjust standing orders from April) – Neil & Mark coaching.

U10 – Saturday 3pm – 4.30pm – School year 4 (girls to year 5) – £12.50 per month (no standing order adjustment needed) – Neil, Gayatri, Mark & Adrian coaching.

There are a couple of the younger kids that I would like to stay in the U10s and I have spoken to them already.

We are not training on 26th March as it is Easter weekend.

That means that this Saturday will be the last time the u10s and minis are together so we will be playing a full game*. Gayatri and Mark will be the two team coaches, Neil will referee and Adrian will help with the table.

MVP, MIP and game ball awards this week will go to those who we see creating space (getting open by v-cuts and back-cuts), passing and moving, triple threat positions, teamwork and sportsmanship (playing with a smile also wins bonus points!).

*Four quarters, 8 minutes rolling click, half court rules – last two minutes of final quarter will be full court and clock stopping. Each quarter we’ll play similar ability teams and we’ll make sure everyone gets to be part of the game.
